Wildlife Care Internship at Fellow Mortals
Entry-level position in Wildlife Rehabilitation as a secondary care intern.
What is the Job Description?
- Interns work primarily to help feeding and cleaning orphaned birds and non-predatory mammals during the period of their internship and are additionally responsible for tasks related to general animal care, including cage and facility cleaning and public relations.
- Interns tasks may vary depending upon individual aptitude, the type and number of patients in care at the facility and the requirements of staff.
- Interns work a minimum of five days per week and accumulate approximately 1200 hours of experience during the course of the internship.
- Interns are required to live in provided housing, which is a benefit in addition to the stipend received.
What are the Qualifications?
- Rabies and tetanus vaccinations must be current prior to commencing the internship.
- Proof of health insurance.
- Interns must be at least 21 years of age and must have completed their junior year of college, with priority given to those applicants recently graduated from wildlife-related fields.
- Interns must be physically able to lift at least 50 pounds and engage in physically-demanding activities, including working long hours, without compromising animal care.
- Maturity, patience, intelligence, compassion, integrity and honesty.
- Internships are for a minimum of 3 months, with most lasting from 6-8 months (through November 15).
