| Every year, thousands of wild animals are injured or orphaned as a result of human activities. Their legs are broken by fishing line, their wings are fractured after colliding with a car. They sustain head trauma from hitting windows and are poisoned after eating insects and plants treated with pesticides and herbicides. During spring and summer, newborns and infants are orphaned when their parents suffer any of these injuries. |
Fellow Mortals |
| Established in 1985 and incorporated in 1991, Fellow Mortals is one of the largest wildlife rehabilitation facilities in Wisconsin. Fellow Mortals admitted more than 2000 birds and mammals in 2006, with the majority of them successfully rehabilitated. Our release rate varies from year to year, depending on the age, species, and condition of the animals admitted. All critical care is done on-site, and our figures include animals which were either dead or dying on arrival or which required euthanasia shortly after admit. |
